[Translation: My experience was really good! There was more confidence, the assigned activity was great, and we were able to speak both languages, which made us feel comfortable understanding what was being said.]
I thought it was a fun experience and great way to talk with people who are also learning a new language.
I learned that a lot of kids our age also have the same interests even though they live in a different country. What went well was me talking about the things I liked. I could improve on speaking with more confidence. My overall experience was good and it was interesting to communicate with people outside of the US. I enjoyed talking about the things that I liked.
I got the opportunity to teach my students that English is not only grammar, but a tool that could help them learn about other cultures and topics that are not often included in the syllabus I teach. Virtual exchange with youth from the United States allowed my students to recognize the mixture of cultures and to overcome the stereotypes and biases that they had.
My students improved their abilities using technology and their own experiences in specific global topics such as prejudice in the world, reflecting on their own biases and learning how to overcome them as well as recognizing other students’ perspectives and culture. It was an excellent opportunity for my students to practice and improve their English language skills and meet new people from the United States.
My students loved it! They were initially nervous, but really enjoyed the opportunity. There were some students who rarely speak in class who even volunteered to speak today, estoy muy orgullos de elles
