Summary

The Design Lead plays a key role in shaping and delivering Global Nomads’ brand and digital presence. This role combines advanced graphic design and animation skills with growing responsibilities in UX/UI design, digital experience strategy, and creative direction. The Design Lead creates high-quality visual assets across multiple platforms while also contributing to the development of user-centered digital products such as the NomadVerse learning platform and organization websites.

This role requires both hands-on design execution and strategic input, with opportunities to lead projects from ideation through testing and implementation. The Design Lead will collaborate closely with marketing, tech, and program teams to ensure a cohesive, accessible, and engaging user experience across all touchpoints.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Graphic Design & Animation

  • Produce high-quality graphics, illustrations, and video animations for websites, social media, digital ads, print, internal communications, and campaigns.
  • Develop visual concepts that effectively communicate the brand message.
  • Maintain consistency with brand guidelines across all design outputs.

UX/UI & Digital Experience Design

  • Design user-friendly interfaces and digital experiences for platforms including the NomadVerse learning platform and organizational websites.
  • Develop wireframes, prototypes, and visual mockups to improve usability, accessibility, and engagement.
  • Collaborate with tech and program teams on product planning, testing, and feature implementation.
  • Support website development, WordPress updates, and platform maintenance.
  • Conduct user testing and incorporate feedback to optimize user journeys and flows.

Creative Strategy & Collaboration

  • Partner with the marketing team to shape creative campaign direction, not only executing but contributing ideas and strategy.
  • Align visual storytelling with organizational goals and messaging.
  • Take ownership of design and UX/UI projects, independently managing them from concept through to execution.
  • Provide thought leadership on design systems, accessibility standards, and emerging design practices.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Experience
3+ years of professional experience in design, animation, and digital experience creation (portfolio required).
Solid understanding of graphic design, motion graphics, video production, and animation principles.
Knowledge of branding, typography, and layout design best practices.

Technology Skills
Strong expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro) and Figma (or similar prototyping tools).
Experience with UX/UI design, wireframing, prototyping, and user testing.
Familiarity with WordPress, web accessibility standards, and responsive design.

Language Ability
Excellent communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English.

Travel
Preferred: Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
